About the Competition

To provide a platform for Hong Kong enterprises, organisations and local parties to share their best practices for .hk website development, HKIRC is once again organising the 2013 Top10 .hk Website Competition (the Competition). Stepping into its fifth year, HKIRC aims to enrich the Competition by adding “The Most Honorable Award” for the outstanding website in each website category, as well as including website security features in the screening process.

“The Most Honorable Award” has been introduced as the highest accolade this year aimed at further recognising the remarkable achievements of Gold winners, who have won for three consecutive years. This new award will establish a role model for .hk websites to showcase its best practices in the industry. In addition, an outstanding website should have Internet security measures built in to eliminate potential dangers and risks from cyber-attacks. Therefore, website security features have been added as part of HKIRC’s initial screening process for promoting a secure environment on the Internet.

The Competition is divided into four sectors. They are “Commercial", "Non-commercial" (such as NGOs and schools), "Government departments" and "LegCo members”. Commercial or non-profit organisations in the public or private sectors are welcome to enroll.

Objectives

  • To encourage the use of good practices and design in website development to increase competitiveness and maximize the benefits brought by the Internet to society

  • To demonstrate the advantages of using the Internet and .hk and .香港 domain names effectively by the local community

  • To share the best practices of .hk and .香港 website design and development

"Government departments" and "LegCo members" categories

The websites of "government departments" appearing on HKSAR Government Organisation Chart and the websites of "LegCo members" appearing on the LegCo Members' Contact Directory are automatically included in the two categories. Interested parties who are not listed can also enroll via the Competition’s website.
